What's in it?

This holiday apartment in jerusalem is so nicely decorated with all new and modern furnishings. You will feel the comforts of  a hotel but the living of at home in this vacation rental in jerusalem. All the details are the best. No expense was spared to make this the best nest in Jerusalem. The owner has many clients/friends who return year after year and he wants to add you to that list. It is even likely he will invite you for dinner or shabbat. There are two apartments to keep for you and your family or two couples to be near each other but with all the privacy you will need. The longer you stay the better the prices. Ideal for short term rental in jerusalem

What is the area like?

This neighborhood is near everything. It is off a side street so it is very quiet. You can hear the birds chirping in the trees. The outside balcony and garden will seat several people for a nice relaxing spot in the green gardens meticulously planted by the owners. there are pink jerusalem stone benches and you can bring the table ot to sit and have breakfast or a nice dinner in the late evening breezes on this beautiful patio. You are near a laundry, supermarket, convenience store and several synagogues to choose from in the area.

What shall I have for lunch?

In the German Colony you will find a traditional middle eastern restaurant called, Mirvad Haksamim. The business lunch is served until late in the afternoon all days except Fridays. You get the best lentil soup, lavah, main dishes, too. You can choose from grills with chicken, lamb or beef. It is all so good, I cannot imagine ordering something here that was not tasty. You can even share one at lunch and maybe try some hummus, or hummus with sauteed beef. On Fridays they prepare take away for guests to enjoy in their homes for the shabbat meal, even if you do not celebrate shabbat you can take some great food back to keep in your fridge for late night snacks. Most restaurants and shops are closed early on Fridays and most of the day on Saturdays.

Where can I empty my wallet?

There are many high end shops near the King David Hotel and in the area of the YMCA. A further walk will bring you to the new Mamila Mall. The designers have managed to incorporate the old arab style homes here by reconstructing them after building the mall. Many of the buildings are new but I think you cannot tell the difference from the old style architechture. Continue to the end of the mall and you will see the stairs that will take you to the Jaffa Gate near the Tower of David. A tourist's mecca awaits you here at the daily bazaars. The old arab shuk is full of middle east designs and kitch. You can walk through to the Christian Quarter for more specific religious items and a great atmosphere with restaurants and cafes. Sit back and relax and enjoy the most religiously charged arena in the world.

Arts and Entertainment?

The Yad Vashem Museum takes a recent horrific event in the lives of the Jewish people and commemorates it in a way that will leave you in awe and wonder with a new determination for life. It is a must see to understand the struggle of a people and their attempt at religious identity in a land and a world that often looks down on the State of Israel.

A day's trip by car will bring you to the Dead Sea, Matsada, Ein Gedi Springs Waterfalls and Kumram. A day trip will take you all of 9 or 10 hours and is easily accessed from Jerusalem on highway one. If you look at your map you wil find Ein Bokek which is the hotel zone in the Dead Sea region. At this area you can shop for dead sea products, try McDonald's for lunch or just float in the waters at the public beach area. Now work your way back to Masada and decide if you want to walk up or take the cable car to King Herod's famous  summer hide away. Moving on back towrds Jerusalem you can catch Ein Gedi and Kumram and relax now and enjoy the short ride back to the modern world as you leave the Dead Sea and its many years of history behind as did the likes of King Davd, and King Herod.

Let's Get Practical

You can walk to the street and find a bus to the heart of the city or on to the central bus station for buses and trains to all parts of Israel. A short walk will take you to the German Colony where even more buses will take you  to the city. You can walk very easiliy from here to enjoy the amazing streets that are lined with trees and flowers showing everyone's pride in their capital. Cabs are very cheap and are along all streets in Jerusalem 24 hours a day. ATMs are at every bank main office. You can receive shekels here at the most current rate of exchange. There are also cash exchange kiosks along the streets.
