walk to Ben Yehuda mall and the old city walking distance to all of Jerusalem. Beautiful vacation rental in jerusalem

What's in it?

This holiday apartment in jerusalem is newly remodeled and decorated with great modern decor. The bathroom of this vacation rental in jerusalem has a jacuzzi tub, there's a flat screen TV and a balcony overlooking the street below and Cafe Hillel. The owner made sure there were double glazed windows so you can enjoy the sites without the noise.

The owner/representative calls himself the concierge. He is on site and can help you find your way around the city. He also comes in to make sure yor accomadations are fresh. He said it's not enough just to take the reservation, he wants to make sure everything is good for you. You can also make arrangements for him to come in from his salon to give you personal attention for anything from hair to nails. Ideal for short term rental in jerusalem

What is the area like?

You are five minutes to Ben Yehuda pedestrian mall and this is the center of the city. You have many choices for shopping, eating and site seeing. It is a very safe area for walking at night and very easy in and out for traveling to other sites in Israel.

What shall I have for lunch?

Cafe Hillel is directly across the street and you can make arrangements for breakfast everyday with this homeowner. Here you can order coffee, salads and fresh made sandwiches. In addition to the many kosher restaurants there are several choices on Hillel Street that are open on Saturdays. Facaccio is around the corner and has great brick oven baked facaccio, seafood and steak as well as good sandwich selections.

The street for restauranuts is down Hillel Street to Yoel Salomon Street. Here you can find schnitzel, steaks, and pasta.  You can find quick bites for lunch and just around the corner several fine dining choices for dinner. Most are kosher but definitely check. I make suggestions for both.

Luigi's is at the other end of the street on Yoel Solomon and has really great business lunches with pasta, soup and facaccio included for one small price. Try the ravioli with rouquforte cheese and the four cheese sauce. Wow wow wow!!! Rivka, my friend recommends one of the local red wines from the north in the Galil.

Where can I empty my wallet?

The Ben Yehuda pedestrian mall walk of shops is the reason to come to Jerusalem. Here you can find in every shop Israeli fare, but there are also other stores that have one of a kind local artisans, art, pottery and glasswares can be found here. The prices seem to be very similar from place to place and you can usually haggle for lower prices. Cash options will get you the best price, too.

On the way to the old city you can go to the Arab Quarter and the Christian Quarter. Here you can find many other varieties of souviners to take back home. Haggling is the way to shop here. If you pay full price or first price; you have paid too much.

Israelis love to shop and it is a very social thing to do at Canyon Malcha. Here you can find all the local Israeli street fashins at TNT, Castro and the Mashbir. People watching is fun to at one of the many cafes on the shopping mezzanine.

Arts and Entertainment?

On Hillel Street you will find a small synagogue that was transplanted from Italy. The architecture of this 19th century synagogue is beautiful and has a small museum with old judaica from the 15th century to current artifacts. It worth it and is only about 20 shekels.

On Rav Kook Street you will find The Anna Ticho House and The Little Jerusalem Cafe. Housed here are exhibits from the Israel Museum and artifacts from Anna Ticho's life as an artist and early Jerusalmite. On Fridays you can even make reservations for lunch and enjoy musical entertainment.

Let's Get Practical

A 2 minute walk will bring you to King George Street. Several buses stop here taking you to the central bus station on to all of Israel, or on to Mea Shearim, Ramot and Har Nof. Just ask anyone because most Jerusalmis speak english and love to help.

"Yashar yashar kol hazman, Yemina." Means straight, the whole time and turn right. It means they are not sure but do not NOT want to offer you directions.

Cabs are also an easy way to get around the city, when you enter the cab you can usually set a price or if it seems too high ask to use the meter. However walking is the way to get around. You can walk to the old city in 20 minutes, Mea Shearim in 15 minutes, and Ben Yehuda in 5 minutes.

Cash kiosks will exchange currency for you but all shops will take your currency and give you the best exchange of the day. You can find banks which have ATMs and give you shekels from your credit card or bank withouot any fee from Israel.
